Directors
Tim Frey, President
In 1994, Tim Frey and his family invited two adults with disabilities to share their home in Sheboygan, WI. It was that one home, and Tim’s vision to provide supportive services to a diverse population, that has now developed into TLC Homes, Inc. As creator, owner and President, Tim’s role over the years has been ranged from live-in caregiver to management. Currently, Tim works to support his management staff, team build, and continue to develop services that ensure the highest level of quality care for adults with Developmental Disabilities.
Tim graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in Production Operations Management. While at UW-Whitewater, Tim worked for a local residential care program. It was there that Tim first identified a necessity for enhanced community residential services for persons who are developmentally disabled. To serve those individuals with compassion and love; allowing for the everyday comforts we so quickly take for granted.
Steve Hendrikse, Director of Services
Steve Hendrikse joined the staff of TLC as Director of Services in 2008. Prior to coming to TLC, he worked 20 years for Sheboygan County Health and Human Services in the Long Term Care Division. There he gained experience as an Adult Protective Services Specialist, a Community Services Specialist, and finally as the County’s Developmental Disability Coordinator. As TLC’s current Director of Services, Steve is responsible for Vocational Services, the development of an Adult Day Care Center, and the overall care and supervision of the adults who live in TLC Residential programs.
Steve graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. It was there that Steve developed an interest for working with the Developmentally Disabled when he volunteered with the Special Olympics. Later, he, his wife and son provided care and support to a Developmentally Disabled adult for over 15 years in their home. It is experiences such as these, Steve says, that have given him a passion for working with the unique challenges that face this population and serving to ensure TLC’s quality care and support to adults with Developmental Disabilities.
Linda Shaw, Director of Nursing
Linda Shaw is the most recent addition to the TLC team; joining our staff as Director of Nursing in 2009. Prior to coming to TLC, she worked for the Sheboygan County Division of Community Programs in the Developmental Disabilities unit as a Nurse Case Manager. There she assisted in meeting the health, safety and social needs of Developmentally Disables Adults living in the community. As TLC’s current Director of Nursing, Linda works with our staff to achieve and maintain the best possible health and level of wellness for our residents.
Linda graduated from Lakeshore Technical College with an Associate Degree in Nursing, and later completed her education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with a Bachelor degree in Nursing. With over a decade of experience in the nursing field, Linda says that her interest for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities became evident early on. It is a challenging field that, according to Linda, can be tremendously rewarding.
Tom Peterson, Director of Operations
Tom Peterson joined the staff of TLC Homes in 2007 as Human Resources and Office Manager; moving on in 2008 to serve as Director of Operations. Tom oversees Human Resources, IT, Building Maintenance and Direct Care Staff. Additionally, his responsibilities include performance management, improvement systems, facility upkeep, and managing TLC policies and procedures.
Tom joined TLC after beginning his career in Operations Management with a national franchisor of drive-thru espresso bars. Tom says that it was during this time that he decided to make the transition to the field of human services. He wanted to use his unique skills and experience to make a difference in the lives of his community. He recognized that TLC’s vision of community integration and fostering independence was something he whole-heartedly wanted to promote. That is why Tom has made it his goal to advance effective and respectful care to all individuals.
